From Alison Doyle, your Guide to Job Searching
Are you about to quit your job? Here's what you need to know about quitting with class, writing resignation letters, and more advice on how to resign from your job.

Before You Quit Your Job
In many cases, when you turn in your resignation, you're done. Some companies expect you to give two weeks notice, others will want you out the door by the end of the day or even immediately. Before you submit your resignation to your boss, make sure you are prepared to leave.

Writing a Resignation Letter
It's a good idea to formalize your departure by providing your manager with a formal resignation letter. That way, you will confirm your last date of work and there will an official letter for your employee file. Here are sample letters to review.

I Quit! How to Resign
It's important to handle your resignation as carefully as you would handle any other business endeavor. It's always wise to not burn bridges. You never know when you will need your past employers for a reference.
