Interviews & Employment

From Alison Doyle, your Guide to Job Searching
Sometimes, what you don't do is as important as what you do when you're job searching. Not making an extra effort to proof your job search correspondence can knock your candidacy out of consideration.

How Not To Get Hired
Forgetting to send an interview thank you note, for example, won't help your chances of getting a job offer. Not sitting up straight (remember what your mom always told you) and slumping in your interview chair... Read more

Interviews & Employment

From Alison Doyle, your Guide to Job Searching
Because I am lucky enough to be able to work from home, every day is Take Your Dog to Work Day for me. My dogs happily lounge around my office and enjoy tennis ball and walk breaks. Being able to bring my dog to work would be a big perk if I was job searching. For others, it's not such a good idea.

Can You Bring Your Dog to Work?
Employees at companies that participate in Take Your Dog to Work Day, which is Friday, June 21, 2013, have an opportunity to bring their dog with them to work at least once a year. Those who bring their dogs to work can enter a photo contest and win a prize for themselves and their local animal shelter.

The Benefits of Dogs In the Workplace
People who bring their pets actually work longer hours! Some enlightened bosses truly "get it" and have opened their doors to dogs in the workplace. In fact surveys show that one in five companies allow pets.

Show Some Respect
You may love your dog, but that doesn't mean your co-workers will. Some people are afraid of dogs. Others are allergic to them. You also have to consider whether your dog, no matter how much you love him or her, should come to work with you. Some dogs don't react well to being in unfamiliar situations or around strangers.
