Your Christmas shopping will cost more this year, plus the news you missed this week

 | | | TODAY | | | ICYMI: Your Christmas Holiday Will Cost More This Year In case you missed it, inflation will be an unwelcome gift under your tree this year. A new analysis from The Balance has found that the Christmas holiday this year will be 17% more expensive than in 2019, before the pandemic, and about 3.4% more than in 2020. While 3.4% may not sound like a lot, certain items will be much pricier than in 2020. Not only will your actual tree cost about 26% more than last year, the favorite holiday beverage eggnog will cost over 27% more, too. Thankfully, inflation hasn't touched every item on the gift list as some popular items like iPhones and Nike sneakers will cost the same as they did last year. A new Playstation also isn't pricier than last year, but it is about 25% more than it cost during Christmas in 2019. On a more cheerful note, some items experienced deflation this year. Dessert-lovers will rejoice at the drop of nearly 1% in the cost of cookies from 2020. In total, your Christmas holiday celebration, including decorations, dinner, and gifts, will cost roughly $1,783 this year, up from $1,725 last year, and up from roughly $1,525 in 2019. - Kristin | | | Email sent to: kholish2011.jobsearch@blogger.com | | You are receiving this newsletter because you subscribed to The Balance Today newsletter. | | If you wish to unsubscribe, please click here | | A DOTDASH BRAND 28 Liberty Street, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10005 | | © 2021 Dotdash - All rights reserved.
