Oil prices are falling, with the price of benchmark West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil sliding below $100 a barrel as talks continue between negotiators from Russia and Ukraine and lockdowns in China could weaken demand. Lower oil prices bring good news to drivers: average gas prices in the country are also declining, dipping slightly to an average of $4.32 a gallon today, according to AAA.

But inflation is still on the rise. The Producer Price Index (PPI), which measures inflation for manufacturers, rose 0.8% in February, according to the latest report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. That rate could suggest inflation is slowing after January saw a 1.2% monthly increase and a record annual jump in prices. The index posted a 10% increase from a year ago—tied with January's upwardly revised rate for the greatest annual increase on record, since data was first collected in 2010. The core PPI rate, excluding volatile food and energy prices, rose 6.6% from last year.

And a new study from The Balance found that personal care products marketed toward women cost nearly 13% more than items targeting men. Dubbed the "pink tax," the analysis showed how much more some consumers may pay for goods like shampoo, soap, and razors, despite the similarity of the products.

Everyday products targeted at women, like shampoo, razors, body wash, and lotion, cost nearly 13% more than those products targeted at men, according to a new study from The Balance. Razor cartridges and deodorant marketed toward women had the largest markups compared to those products for men, the data showed.
